Adding a Rain Sensor

Modified on Mon, 28 Oct at 1:10 PM

Note: You will need to install the rain sensor via SD-110 sensor decoder. Normally closed rain sensors are not supported at this time.

  1. Install & discover the SD-110 decoder. For more information, access Adding a SD-110 Sensor Decoder to the NLP
  2. Navigate to   Irrigation controller Control
  3. Under Rain IO dropdown, select sensor decoder address attached to rain sensor
  4. Under Rain start delay (min)(1) insert your desired delay. If no delay is desired, insert 0 min.
  5. Under bucket size (in), input:
    1. For N/O Rain Sensors = 0
    2. For NLP Rain Mater (TRB-NLP) = 0.04
    3. For other Tipping Rain Buckets = Contact Manufacturer

(1) Rain Start delay references the additional delay in irrigation after a rain sensor changes state. Rain sensor action & features can vary based on make & model.

I.e.:

  • Rains for 2 hours for 0.25" of total rain
  • Rain start delay is 180 min (3 hours)

N/O rain sensor

  • Once sensor state reverts from "Closed" (Raining per Sensor) to "Open" (Not Raining per Sensor), delay irrigation by an additional 180 minutes
