Step 3 - Enable the Controller's “Short Finding" Mode

Modified on Fri, 24 Jan at 11:38 AM

"Short Finding" Mode in Tucor controllers puts the 2-Wire path in a frequency (60 Hz) possible for a clamp meter to measure current on a 2-Wire path. Irrigation is not possible with a controller in Short Finding Mode. As such, it is important for users to return a controller to Auto mode after troubleshooting is finished.

Adhere to the instructions provided for each specific controller type:

NLP - Putting Controller in Short Finding Mode
TWC / TWI / AIC - TWC 2-Wire Troubleshooting
RKD / RKD+ / LTD - RKD & LTD 2-Wire Troubleshooting

A clamp meter that reads milliamps is the only tool Tucor requires for troubleshooting 2-Wire

With your clamp meter in (mA) mode:

1. Place the clamp meter around one wire of the 2-Wire path, measure the current, and record the value.
2. Measure each remaining wire of the 2-Wire path and record the values

3. Identify which wire on the 2-Wire path has the highest (mA) draw. Ignore the wire path that has the lowest reading. Once you establish the wire with the greater (mA) draw, you need to chase that wire out into the field.

To continue troubleshooting access: Step 4 - Chase the "High Number" (mA)
