Understanding & Changing Irrigation Controller Modes

Modified on Thu, 14 Nov at 10:49 AM

Irrigation Controller Modes provide a snapshot of controller status. Some modes can be adjusted. Possible statuses include:

  • Initializing – The controller is still loading after restart.
  • Manual – Irrigation will run manually.
  • Auto (Standard) – Irrigation will run automatically. Programs & zones can be operated manually in this mode.
  • Paused – Irrigation is suspended temporarily. Program will show "Running" as the controller maintains the same water window, but 0 stations will show as running. To resume irrigation, put the controller in Auto mode.*
  • Raining – Irrigation is suspended temporarily due to rain. This mode requires a rain sensor.
  • 2-Wire Non-Operational – The 2-Wire is not operational, either intentionally (in short finding, leak finding, or turned "Off") or by 2-Wire fault. No programs will run while in this state. If this state is encountered by fault during irrigation, the controller will attempt to return to the previous state and resume irrigation within a given water window.

Adjusting program modes:

  • From Dashboard, selectP205#yIS1 under Irrigation Controller
  • Under Mode, selectP205#yIS1
  • The current controller Mode is highlighted. Choose between Auto, Manual, or Paused.
  • Select SAVE.

*Program(s) that were running when a controller was paused will resume running after the controller is returned to Auto mode as long as they are within their allocated water window. A program will not exceed a water window's stop time unless it has been overwritten in program settings.
